Perry, Brand Buy $6.5 Million Home
Posted by Daniel Antolin on Jun 30, 2011 - 12:20:05 PM

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Pop musician Katy Perry and comedic actor Russell Brand, who are married, will soon be moving. The singer of the hit single "Firework" and star of "Get Him to the Greek" purchased a Mediterranean-style home this week for $6.5 million, one month after they put their other $4-million Los Feliz residence for sale.

Officially known as the DeWitt Residence, the three-story home situated on a 2.98-acre property is located in a double gated community at 8159 Hollywood Blvd. The home was built in 1925, and it features many different types of rooms with marble floors and stained glass windows.

Rooms include a two-story living room with a large fireplace, seven bedrooms, dual master suites
, a family room, breakfast area, dining space, nine bathrooms, media and billiards room, library, office and guest quarters. Additionally, two detached guest houses, a grotto, moto court and pool are outside.

Their new home is larger and a few years younger than the $3.4 million, 8,835-square-foot 4100 Cromwell Ave. estate in Los Feliz they used to call home.

The couple
reportedly purchased the home from Daniel Laikin, former CEO of National Lampoon. It was also featured on the first season of “The Bachelor,” the reality show that debuted on NBC in March 2002.

They bought the single family home after it had been steadily decreasing in value for seven years, public records indicate.

It was estimated to be worth $4,262,960 on June 30, having decreased in value by $429,881 since 2009. In March 2004, the home was worth $4,681,219. This is when Laikin reportedly purchased it.

Sometime before this recording date, five bedrooms and four bathrooms were added as improvements to the home.

Their former home was assessed to be worth $3,250,032 after they bought it in December 2009. It is now being sold for $144,968 more.

Other media outlets incorrectly reported the opposite about the couple's recent real estate dealings. It was reported that Perry and Brand bought a home in Los Feliz and are selling a Hollywood Hills home.

Perry and Brand originally planned to make a New York pied-à-terre their primary residence.
