HOLLYWOOD HILLS—After fifteen hours without power, residents had power restored in the area. The power outage started at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27 and quickly spread to encompass almost three thousand customers, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
The power outage does not seem to be related to the intense heat, but Californians are being asked to conserve power and limit the drain on the grid during the daylight hours.
Californians are being asked to conserve power to help prevent another outage.
-Opening the windows at night to let in cool air, followed by closing the windows and blinds during the morning, to reduce the intake of solar energy
-Turn off computers and electrical devices, whose waste heat can only add to your burden
-Wear light weight, loose fitting clothing
-See a movie or head to a shopping mall during the hottest part of the day (noon to evening) to take advantage of their A.C.
These suggestions will keep the pressure off the grid and help prevent major power outages.
According to www.weather.com, the heat wave will end sometime during the week of July 1-July 7.
