The incident occurred during the early morning hours.

HOLLYWOOD—A 26-year-old suspect was injured while being arrested for traffic violations on Thursday, August 8, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Around 1:25 a.m., Hollywood Division Patrol officers noticed a silver BMW committing traffic violations near Gower Street and Fountain Avenue. Officers began to pursue the vehicle as the driver, Aram Tagmazyan, drove to an apartment complex located on the 1200 block of North Beachwood Drive. Tagmazyan entered the accompanying garage and parked his vehicle inside. As officers arrived on the scene, they noticed the young man holding his waistband as he ran into an apartment unit.

Officers followed the suspect and noticed that the lights in the apartment were turned off; they then heard a toilet flush. Backup was called, and once numerous officers surrounded the building, Tagmazyan was ordered to evacuate the apartment. The suspect obeyed. He was taken into custody and arrested. While being handcuffed, however, his right elbow was injured. The suspect was treated at a local hospital and was later booked for resisting arrest.

The LAPD's Force Investigation Division is conducting an investigation of the incident, which is dubbed as a Law Enforcement Related Injury (LERI). The resulting report will be scrutinized by the Chief of Police, the office of the Inspection General and the Board of Police Commissioners as well as the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Justice System Integrity Division.

Canyon News contacted the Force Investigation Division, but no further details were divulged as of press time.

The LAPD is asking anyone with information to call the Force Investigation Division at 213-486-5230. Those wishing to call can contact the LAPD at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 during non-business hours or on weekends. Anonymous callers can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
