Ventura Prisoners Declared 'Still At Large'

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On Saturday, August 6, it was reported by the Los Angeles Times that two Ventura County prisoners were declared missing on the early afternoon of Friday, August 5. Pablo Ladislow Ontaneda, 18 and Christopher Ochoa, 19, were cleaning brush when, according to officials, “they were picked up by someone.” As a result, it was also determined that it is no longer probable for the men to be within the surrounding areas.

Authorities identified the 8400 block of Mulholland Drive as their initial place of occupation. Contrary to the clothing description khaki long sleeve shirts and green shorts from the initial report, the two were in fact last dressed in the “standard issue inmate uniforms: dark blue pants and white shirts.” With Ontaneda measuring at about 6 feet in height and 185 pounds in weight and Ochoa at 125 pounds standing at 5 feet 4 inches. Both prisoners (Latino with black hair) were serving time for second-degree robbery, although Ochoa specifically with a handgun.
In a KABC report, it was concluded that the two captives utilized a cell phone to contact their driver when they escaped the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility in Camarillo. As reported by the L.A. Times, the state Department of Correction and Rehabilitation assigned teams to areas throughout Southern California to locate the fugitives as of Sunday, August 7.
