HOLLYWOOD HILLS—A woman was struck and killed on Friday, September 27 by a driver who fled the scene, according to police.
The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 6700 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, just east of Highland. The woman was announced dead at the scene.
Police are looking for an early model white Toyota or a light blue Ford Thunderbird, according to reports.
The hit-and-run accident happened the same day that Councilman Joe Buscaino proposed a standing reward of $50,000 for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of drivers involved in deadly hit-and-runs. Buscaino is proposing the reward at the city council meeting.
“I am doing my best to change a culture in Los Angeles where 30 people get killed every year by drivers who leave the scene,” said Buscaino on his Facebook page in reference to the reward. “It’s not moral,” he added.
The accident is currently under investigation and details about the victim have not yet been released.
