LAUREL
CANYON—A large tree collapsed on
Wonderland Avenue in the
Laurel
Canyon area on Monday morning. The tree hit three power poles, thus causing an electricity outage for 170,000 consumers. The road was shut down while workers removed the tree and put the power poles back to work.
Canyon News spoke to Jane Galbraith, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, about the situation. “The incident on
Wonderland Avenue should now be cleared,” Galbraith said. When asked what people should do in these situations, Galbraith stated, “We advise that people always stay clear of power lines that are down and if they witness a damaged power line, call the LADWP at (800)342-5397 as soon as possible.” Of course, this action will help get the power line fixed as soon as possible, causing less of a hassle to the affected residents and customers.
The good news for southern
California residents is that the rain should clear up toward the end of the week and we should have a sunny Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Clouds and some rain may begin coming around again on Sunday, but those weather conditions are forecasted to be much less harsh then this weekend’s rain parade.
