Reported at 2:40 a.m. Friday, April 26, the crash occurred on the southbound side of the freeway near Hollywood Boulevard.
At the scene of the accident, Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief Peter Benesch said that there were three cars involved in the crash and that two people had to be cut out of them.
Both extricated victims were transported to a hospital in critical
condition. The other two received minor injuries and were likewise transported
to a hospital.
The California Highway Patrol shut down all southbound lanes of the freeway for nearly an hour while investigating the cause of the crash.
The two hospitalized victims in critical condition were expected to survive.
