$50,000 Reward For Hit-And-Run Suspect
Posted by Kyle Maloney on Apr 30, 2013 - 1:08:23 PM

LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles Police Department held a news conference Tuesday morning, April 30, to announce a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a hit-and-run driver who killed 18-year-old bicyclist David Alexander Granados in Valley Glen last month.

On Sunday, March 24, authorities reported to the intersection of Oxnard Street and Bellaire Avenue in Valley Glen to investigate a traffic accident that left one bicyclist with serious injuries.

Granados was allegedly riding his bike southbound on the east side of Bellaire Avenue, crossing Oxnard Street, when a westbound driver sped through the intersection and hit him without stopping to administer aid, which is required by law.

Granados was immediately transported to the hospital where he died the following day, just days after his 18th birthday.

The investigation of the hit-and-run has so far revealed that the suspect’s car may have been a 2000 to 2004 Mercedes Benz M-Class sport utility vehicle. The City Council approved the reward at the meeting.

Anyone with information regarding the fatal crash is asked to contact the LAPD Valley Traffic Division detectives at (818) 644-8063. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7. And anonymous calls can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters can also contact Crime Stoppers by texting 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S) with a cell phone. Text messages should being with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters can also use LAPDOnline.org by clicking on “webtips” and following the prompts.
