HOLLYWOOD—On Wednesday, April 10, the California Supreme Court denied Hollywood resident Jonathan Pedraza a defense petition in the case of killing his father, Miguel Pedraza, 62.
According to the court panel, Pedraza’s father was discovered in a storage unit at A-1 Mini Storage located on Irwindale Avenue where there were blood stains on the floor, the walls and on the items inside. An autopsy later confirmed that Miguel Pedraza died from numerous skull fractures.
The California Supreme Court denied the petition for review, and according to Appellate Courts Case Information, the status of the People v. Pedraza case is currently marked “case closed.”
In its February 4 ruling, the three-justice panel from California’s 2nd District Court found that “there was evidence from which a reasonable jury could conclude that [the] defendant had planned the murder.”
Pedraza, 26, has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
