ANGELES—The month-long shut down of Coldwater Canyon Avenue is officially over
after L.A. City Councilman Paul Krekorian declared the major thoroughfare
officially open on Tuesday, April 23, two days ahead of schedule.
“I’m very, very pleased to be able to announce that Coldwater Canyon is now opened to traffic,” Krekorian said. “This has been a moment that people have been waiting for a long time.”
Efforts to replace a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power trunk line that ruptured in 2009 required the six-day-a-week closure of the road between Mulholland Drive and Ventura Boulevard.
Construction was scheduled up until Thursday, April 25, but LADWP officials announced that when Coldwater Canyon reopens to traffic at 7 p.m. Tuesday night, it will remain open.
Left-turn restrictions in the area will stay in effect until June 1.
