LOS ANGELES—As people gear up for Super Bowl Sunday, the Los Angeles Police Department wants to remind everyone to drink responsibly and have a designated driver as there will be multiple DUI checkpoints throughout the southern LA area.
Thus far, five checkpoints have been announced as of Sunday, February 3 at the following locations: Scotland Street from 9:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m., Newton & Central Areas from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., Topanga County from 5:00 p.m. until 1:00 am., the 77th Street area from 5:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m., and in Hollywood from 7:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m.
The LAPD stated on a recent press release to be wary of the consequences of driving under the influence, which can result in a $10,000 fine, jail time, loss of driving privileges, and the possibility of increased insurance rates. Authorities also stated that enforcements are funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Police have urged bystanders to call 911 if there is any suspicion of drunk driving.
Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVII will see the
