LOS ANGELES—Music Icon, Diddy was a victim of a swatting prank at his Toluca Lake home on Tuesday, April 2. Police responded to a report made through the LAPD’s Internet relay system at 10:53 a.m. stating that a man was inside Diddy’s $5 million home with a deadly weapon. Once officers arrived on to the scene they found that the allegations were false.

Actor, Steve Carrel’s home next door was also impacted as police locked down his residence as a precaution.Diddy was not at home when the incident occurred.

Later in the day, singer Rihanna was also targeted, as police were notified that a person was shot just outside of her Pacific Palisades home, only to find that it was just another false report.

Chris Brown was also used as part of a swatting prank when calls were made indicating domestic violence was occurring inside the singer’s Hollywood home last January. After arriving on the scene, officers found the statements to be untrue.

The LAPD has reported that they will begin to enforce strict penalties on those who take part in swatting, as it diverts officers from attending to other reports as well as wastes tax payers dollars.

Police have found some success in identifying those who have taken part in such pranks. Police arrested a 12-year”“old boy in October for making the fake call that lead to the dispatch of a SWAT team to Ashton Kutcher’s Hollywood Hills home last October.

Other high-profile victims that have been targeted include Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton and Tom Cruise.
