SANTA ANA—Police found 71 year-old, Macaria Finefield dead in her Santa Ana home from fatal stab wounds on Saturday, November 3.
Officials found Finefield’s body in her bed at the 700 block of
Orange Ave after the victim's ex-husband Kenneth Finefield called 911 at 3:30 p.m. He is now being held in custody for suspicion of murder at the Santa Ana County Jail. Though the two were divorced, they shared the same home. As of now, there is no information regarding a motive.
Back in 1974, the victim was accused of stabbing a pregnant woman, Bertha Hernandez, while attempting to perform a C-Section in her home. Finefield met Hernandez in
Mexico and brought her to
Los Angeles to look for her husband. After the police found Hernandez’s body in
Mexico, charges were made and quickly dropped as Mexican officials provided evidence that the accused Finefield already did three years in a Mexican prison for the death. According to her ex-husband, at the time of the trial, she was released from a mental institution two weeks prior to the killing. She has denied this accusation.
The exact cause of victim’s death is to be determined upon her autopsy on Monday, November 5. Sana Ana Police has assured the
Los AngelesCounty that the neighborhood is not in any danger.
