HOLLYWOOD—The LAPD received a call at around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7 that a man was causing a disturbance and threatening other residents of the Vantage Apartment building in Hollywood.

The man later identified as 28-year-old Oliviero Bozzi, was holding a machete and threatening to kill other residents. Bozzi then barricaded himself inside his fifth floor apartment.

Residents of the apartment building, located on the 1700 block of North Fuller Avenue, were forced to evacuate.

A SWAT team was called in and after several requests by LAPD officers, Bozzi dropped the machete into the building’s swimming pool. However, it was not until tear gas was used that Bozzi decided to surrender.

Once arrested, officers searched his apartment where they found several weapons. Bozzi was booked for criminal threats according to the LAPD.

The reasons behind Bozzi’s actions are still unknown as the LAPD is reportedly conducting tests to confirm whether or not he was under the influence of any drugs at the time of the incident.

The suspect was reportedly the source of other problems for the apartment building in the past.
