LOS ANGELESThe LAPD has announced Monday, January 14, during a news conference that five suspects have been arrested and are in custody for an armed robbery and hostage crisis at a Nordstrom Rack outlet on January 10. The shop is located near the Howard Hughes promenade in Los Angeles.

The three armed suspects --identified as Troy Hammock, 29; Everett Allen, 24; and Raymond Sherman Jr. 34-- allegedly approached employees as they were exiting the department store just before closing time, forcing them back inside.

The armed men proceeded to hold 14 employees hostage as they robbed the store.  During the crisis one employee managed to make a phone call to her husband and alerted her spouse about the robbery. The husband immediately notified the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD Pacific Patrol division units immediately responded to the call and after assessing the situation called in Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT).  Swat entered the location after a two-hour stand off and immediately searched the store for the suspects and rescued the employees. It was later discovered that the suspects fled the scene in a white SUV just as initial police units were arriving.

One female employee, who was hiding in a break room during the incident, suffered a non-life threatening stab-wound to the neck. Another female employee suffered a sexual assault. Both victims were treated at a nearby hospital and were released the following morning.

The Robbery Homicide Division took over the investigation and identified the three suspects by Saturday night. Two additional suspects --Rochelle Sherman, 33; and Paula Bradley, 29 --were also arrested as accessories to the crime.

Four of the suspects are currently in police custody in Los Angeles, and one remains in the custody of Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department in Phoenix, Arizona and is awaiting transfer back to Los Angeles.

Detectives are planning on presenting the robbery case before the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Major Crimes Division, on Monday, January 14.
