Timothy Steven Shope
LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding 42 year-old, Timothy Steven Shope. Shope was arrested on Thursday, March 7 for multiple counts of burglary, grand theft and elderly abuse.
Shope was released on bail, but did not appear at his hearing on Thursday, March 28. This is not the first time that Shope has had a run-in with the law, as he was arrested in several other states including
Arizona. The LAPD states that Shope uses Internet dating websites, to meet and steal from his victims.
According to the LAPD blog, “He is also known for buying and selling fake expensive watches through Craigslist and eBay as well as stealing Rolex watches from merchants and collectors.”
Detectives have reason to believe that Shope often disguises himself as a package deliveryman to carry out his burglaries. Considering Shope has family in
North Carolina, officers suspect that he may have fled to
North Carolina to avoid his arraignment.
A bench warrant has been set and bail has been set at $200,000. If anyone has any information regarding Shope’s whereabouts they are urged to contact the LAPD Art Detail Detectives at 213-486-6940.
