LOS
ANGELES—The Los Angeles State Historic Park
is a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon; with a dirt track hugging the
entire park you can jog, cycle, or walk. Visitors can play sports, fly kites, or
play fetch with your dogs. The center of the park is open for just about any
activity.
If you're feeling a little more laid back, you can have a picnic under a
shady tree with a loved one. There are no swings, but the park does have sand boxes and BBQ grills
which help give the park a more relaxed feeling.
The
park’s rich history is quite a surprise. At one point, LASHP was an old Southern
Pacific Train Station, helping riders in and out of the Los Angeles area. Remnants
of that place still exist. Even before being transformed into a train station, the
LASHP was a Native American Village home to the Yang-na people, according to www.parks.ca.gov.
The
State Historic Park is a great place to bring friends and family. LASHP is located on
1245 N. Spring St. Los Angeles, CA 90012. LASHP is also three blocks north of
Philips French Dipped Sandwiches and one block north of the Gold Line Chinatown
Station.
