The Gun Buyback Program, which was started back in 2009, has been successful in obtaining nearly 10,000 weapons from community members in the Los Angeles area.

Those who would like to participate in the event are welcome to visit four different locations throughout the city on Saturday, May 4 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Officials have also indicated that individuals who visit the sites to surrender their weapons will be able to do so without having to answer questions regarding how they obtained possession of their firearm, or how the firearm was used.

In exchange for the guns, individuals will be given a Ralphs or VISA pre-paid card for up to $200. The program is one way the city along with the rest of the community is striving to lower gun violence throughout the area.
