LOS ANGELES—Monique Holt will be performing a one-woman show called “Men Don’t Listen to Naked Women” at the GLAD auditorium on January 11, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. The performance will be directed by Timothy Chamberlain and costs $35 when purchased online. Tickets will also be available at the door as early as 4:00 p.m. and costs $30 for adults and $25 for seniors and students with an ID; they will only take cash.
According to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s(OSF) Facebook page, “Men Don’t Listen to Naked Women” is described as ”˜a fun combination of storytelling, stand-up, audience interaction, and words to live by: an evaluation of the relations of men and women. Covering the Bible, Shakespeare, fairy tales, habits and everyday occurrences. Who listens and how? Who speaks and how?’
In Holt’s bio on the
GLAD described Holt as ”˜a performer in Film, TV and the stage ”“ [she] has directed shows for New York Deaf Theatre, Onyx Theatre Company, Gallaudet University, and Open Circle Theatre Company. [Holt also] created the shows: “Are Your Ears Blind?” and “The ”˜OR’bit.” She has collaborated on shows with In-Flight Theater, Ping Chong & Co., Romy Achituv, and Real Time Opera.’
The proceeds from this event will go to the making of “Always a Bridesmaid.” The film is 15 minutes long and is set to film in January 2014. The film is supported by GLAD and Artists: Betwixt and Between, Inc. (A:BAB.) A:BAB hopes to raise $22K for the film.
