Posted by Camille Sarabia on Jun 5, 2013 - 8:08:20 PM

LOS ANGELES—The Natural History Museum has a one-of-a-kind butterfly pavilion exhibit that is open now till September 2.

Among the Natural History Museum’s exhibits include: the Dino Lab, the Edible Garden or the Spider Lab. The Butterfly Pavilion displays a design and beauty that is perfect for summer that allows the public to wander into their world.  The Natural History Museum states on their website describing the exhibit by saying, “Wander into our exotic Butterfly Pavilion, an environment bursting with beautiful butterflies, moths and glorious greenery. You will discover an astonishing landscape teeming with life and filled with color, growth, and transformation.”

The Butterfly Pavilion houses more than 53 butterflies and moths as well as a variety of plants and flowers.  Some of the favorite curators include: the California Dogface, the Monarch and the Spicebush Swallowtail.

The Natural History Museum presents the butterflies as a science. Their goal is to educate, fascinate and deliver an incredible experience.  The pavilion will showcase butterflies in their natural habitat up close.  The Natural History Museum states “See up close how butterflies use their tubular mouthparts to obtain nectar and witness caterpillars feed on leaves and go through the process of their transformation into adults.”  Each visit to the Butterfly Pavilion will be unique, as the butterflies and plants grow and change, the exhibit will as well.

Entrance into the butterfly pavilion requires a timed ticket that can be purchased when buying a general admission.  It is an outdoor exhibit and will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
