TUCSON—Southern California quarterback Matt Barkley gave it all he had on the last play of the game tossing a Hail Mary fifty yards into the end zone, only to see it batted to the ground as the clock expired. Reality set in for the Trojans moments later as the Arizona Wildcats celebrated their 39-36 upset victory over No. 10 USC on the other sideline.

Trojan wide receiver Marqise Lee was electric on Saturday, setting a Pac-12 record for most receiving yards in a game with 345 and stunning the crowd with his breakaway speed. He finished with 16 catches and two touchdowns with an additional 124 yards on kick returns.

The Southern Cal defense, however, could not make a big enough impact to win the hard fought contest on the road. Arizona quarterback Matt Scott accounted for 469 total yards and 4 touchdowns. He tossed a 7-yard touchdown to Wildcat receiver David Richards to give them a 39-28 lead with five minutes left in the game.

USC fought back quickly, scoring on a 10-yard run by Silas Redd to reduce the gap to three. The touchdowns and big plays could not get the Trojans over the hump in the end though as they made things difficult on themselves with five turnovers and over 100 yards in penalties. Barkley threw for just under 500 yards and tossed three touchdowns in the loss and USC dropped to 6-2 on the season.
