HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Three full board positions are open on the Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council (HHWNC) for those members who are interested in serving or want to nominate another member they believe would make a good candidate.

Members are those individuals who live, work, own property, worship or volunteer in Hollywood Hills and have registered for free as stakeholders with the HHWNC.
Letters of interest or nominations can be submitted by members to Board President Anastasia Mann from now until July 10 to be able to run for the following positions: Board Secretary, Area 7 Chair and Outreach Chair, which has been vacant since April. Khaled Kawaar and Rebecca Arce recently departed the other two spots.
Members will cast their votes for these positions on Wednesday, July 20.
Whoever ultimately becomes secretary will serve the function of this position for the Board and for the Executive Committee. Primary responsibilities of the secretary include acting for the president and vice-president in their absences, keeping council minutes and making sure notices adhere to council provisions set by law.
Members of the Executive Committee are responsible for the review of proposed budgets and statements for HHWNC positions, selection of vendors for items on the budget, resolution of conflicts between board members and providing guidance that will ensure the well-being of the neighborhood council.
The Area 7 Committee and Community Outreach chairs are primarily responsible for presiding over and preparing agendas for meetings, acting as representatives for their committees at Board Meetings, promoting members to participate in the committee and coordinating communication and efforts with the board secretary.
The Area 7 Committee deals with a number of issues relating to the area south of Hollywood Boulevard and west of La Brea Avenue to the West Hollywood border. These issues include traffic, prostitution, the homeless, streetscape beautification and the opening of a Community Police Center and a children's park near Will & Ariel Durant Library located at 7140 W. Sunset Blvd. when it again opens its doors.
Community Outreach Committee work involves bringing together members and celebrating their diversity, introducing new members to the council and keeping current members active. This is accomplished by community acknowledgement, events, information sharing, email trees and other mediums of communication.
Interested members are asked to send a short biography, their membership status (renter, homeowner, business, etc.) and contact information to Mann via email to president@hhwnc.org. Or call 310-854-6000 with questions during business hours.
Though no board meetings are currently scheduled, Mann invites candidates to meet and talk to members at meetings up until and including the day of elections.
