Special Needs Student Killed In Hit And Run

LOS ANGELES—A special needs student was killed on Saturday, November 17 after a hit and run on Broadway Avenue at around 7:00 p.m.

The victim, Miguel Mendez, was a student at Banneker Special Education Center and was reportedly hit by a green, late model Chrysler town and country minivan while crossing Broadway Avenue just south of Century Boulevard.

A local market’s video surveillance revealed footage of the incident, showing the car that hit him with no headlights on. The family of Mendez made a plea to KTLA-TV Channel 5, begging the motorist to turn him or herself into authorities.
