LOS ANGELES—It was announced Tuesday, January 15, that USC will be increasing their security measures in light of last Halloween’s shootings and two recent fatalities that occurred a mile away from campus.

For the first time ever, USC’s campus will close after dark keeping only 8 gates open past 9:00 p.m. Faculty/student identification will be required at these gates upon entry after 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. If students plan to have visitors past 9:00 p.m., they will be required to log in and register them before security grants access through the gates.
Last Halloween, multiple shootings occurred near the
RonaldTutorCampusCenter that left four people injured, all non-USC students. The incident took place in the heart of campus during a party that was being promoted by a non-USC firm with guests from across the city.
President C.L. Max Nikias has implemented a new rule that bans outside promoters from working at USC events along Fraternity Row and other campus facilities.
