LOS FELIZ—The 19th Annual Los Feliz Street Fair will be held on Sunday, July 22 and will be open to the public for free from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The fair is located on Hollywood Boulevard between Vermont and Hillhurst Avenues.
A family friendly event, the fair will offer a multitude of refreshments, food, beer and wine gardens, various opportunities to shop and scheduled performances on two musical stages set on either side of Hollywood Boulevard.
"Our stages host talented musicians in a number of genres, as well as
dancers and circus acts. In past years our stages have premiered the
talents of performers who have gone on to gain national recognition,
such as Inara George, of The Bird and The Bee, and Jazz-man Eli
Brueggemann, now musical director of Saturday Night Live," states the fair's official website. Tremoloco,
Lauren Adams Band, The New York System with Dave Bedrosian, Kind Hearts
& Coronets, Lightnin' Willie & the Poor Boys, Dave Osti, Nicole
Gordon, Thickest Thieves and many others are scheduled to perform this year.
The Los Feliz Village Business Improvement District (LFVBID) have partnered with People Assisting The Homeless (PATH) for this year's celebration. Those who wish to volunteer for PATH can do so by visiting their booth at the fair, or volunteers can help at the street fair by visiting the fair's official website.
It has been announced that the celebration will be more Eco-friendly this year as the fair will showcase ecological designers, organic foods and other Green options. "Every
year we will attempt to exceed the previous year's efforts, looking for
ways to increase that percentage of green", said Melissa Tornay owner
of Primrose Organic Salon and a BID board member.
More and more tactics are being planned to influence greener options for the community event in coming years. Those who wish to join the festivities are urged to use other modes of transportation in a Greening effort as well as to avoid traffic. "We
encourage the public to use the Metro Station located just blocks away
at Vermont Ave and Sunset Blvd and we plan on engaging a Bike Valet to
corral human powered modes of transportation," said president of the BID board, Chris Serrano.
