Haunted Hayride Panics, Pleases Visitors

LOS FELIZPeople flocked to Griffith Park from all over Los Angeles this October to experience the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride, a wagon-driven adventure through the Old Zoo grounds.

The night ride spooked many of the riders and provided a thrill during the Halloween season.
The trip revolves around the journals left by the Clifton Twins, the daughters of Zoo Keeper Ferdinand Clifton, and is full of twisted nightmares and “ghastly visions,” according to the hayride website. Tickets ranged from $25-$50, with discounts for groups of 20 or more.

After the ride, brave souls could venture through The In Between (MAZE), another attraction within the hayride area. Using only a dim lantern and intuition, groups had to find their way through the twists and turns of a labyrinth ridden with ghouls and other terrors of the night.

The Human Menagerie, included with the purchase of any admission ticket, provided psychics, black magic, games and a pumpkin patch, among other activities promising fun.

In its third year of operation, the Haunted Hayride staff kept most of the public shocked and satisfied with the experience they offered. The Hayride ended October 31, but next year’s event is sure to be (and cause) a scream!

“It’s a pretty festive experience for Angelenos,” Mariel Villalon, a 19-year-old local and college student, told Canyon News. “Aside from the ride and maze, there are a few mini attractions. They had some awesome pumpkin and chocolate chip pancakes,” she added.

In an interview with Canyon News, Jackie Ascenzi, a 17-year-old high school student, said the overall experience “was a lot more fun than scary, but the set up was really cool.”
