LOS FELIZ—On Saturday, June 22 keep your eye on the sky for a once-in-a-year galactic phenomenon NASA scientists call a “Supermoon.”

According to NASA planetary geologist Noah Petro, from the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt Maryland, a Supermoon is “The closest full moon of the year of the twelve full moons we’ll get this calendar year; its the one that is going to be closest to the Earth.

A Supermoon differs from a regular moon because it will look a lot larger and brighter in comparison to a regular moon throughout the year.

The Supermoon is predicted to come back again next summer in August. And for those who want to get front row seats for this lunar show why not take the family to Griffith Park and watch the biggest moon of the year.
