Pedestrian Safety News Conference
Posted by Megan Perry on Aug 21, 2011 - 2:29:50 PM

LOS FELIZ—Pedestrian safety is something some may have forgotten and others may just need a refresher course in, so the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Feliz Division will hold a news conference to promote pedestrian safety on August 25.

The Central Traffic Division are the ones hosting the conference next week, and Captain Ronald Marbrey, Commanding Officer, will be there along with other officers giving the public a presentation and educational information on pedestrian safety. There will be a Spanish speaking officer and a Korean speaking officer to offer assistance for those of different cultures or whom may need it.

The conference will take place at the intersection of Vermont avenue and Santa Monica boulevard at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

One of the reasons they are hosting this conference is due to a pedestrian whom was seriously injured in a hit-and-run traffic collision on July 20. The city’s police believe there are just too many accidents caused by ignorance, so learning how to be safe on the street could be beneficial to everyone, from drivers to pedestrians.

The July accident not the first such accident this year and probably won’t be the last. The LAPD is making efforts to provide the community with the proper knowledge of how to be a pedestrian on the road.

They will practice safety techniques and give pedestrians safety tips. This should be a good reminder for the community of the pedestrians’ rules of the road, so future traffic tragedies can be avoided.
