LOS FELIZ—In conjunction with Veterans Day, the LAPD’s Northeast Community Police Station celebrated the achievements of past and present officers on Friday, November 11. Billed as “11-11-11” Recognition Day, a BBQ was held at the Northeast station, which covers several communities including Los Feliz east of Nottingham Drive.

According to an LAPD news release that discussed the day, the date 11-11-11 is significant to the Northeast station because it was the 11th police station built in the history of the LAPD. Additionally, the number 11 is the radio call sign for all officers assigned to work in the division. In an interview with Canyon News, Sgt. Lisa Phillips said 58 retired LAPD officers who had worked at the Northeast station over the years were present at the celebration, which also had a large collection of photos from past and present officers on display.
“The purpose of this event was to thank all of the dedicated officers and civilians that have worked for and with the Northeast police station over the years,” Phillips said.
Phillips added that since the event fell on Veterans Day, it was also a chance for their station to celebrate past and present LAPD officers who are military veterans. In recognition of the occasion, a flag that flew over the USS Arizona Memorial on Pearl Harbor was flown over the station that day.
