LOS FELIZ—On February 17, Damian Kevitt, a Los Angeles man riding his bicycle near Griffith Park, was struck by an unidentified male at around 11:30 a.m. The car was described as a dark grey Toyota Sienna minivan with a "for sale" sign tagged to the rear view window.

Although Kevitt initially landed on top of the windshield, the driver continued to accelerate and the victim remained hinged to the bottom of the minivan as the driver entered the 5 freeway heading south. Kevitt, 36,  was finally dislodged after traveling 600 feet.

One of the witnesses was medical physician, Elijah Wasson, who rushed to the victims’ side as they waited for the ambulance to arrive. The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, but he suffered critical injuries including his right leg which was amputated. he has undergone several other surgeries since the accident.

The driver of the minivan has not yet been identified as the California Highway Patrol is looking for any information that can lead to an arrest. Councilman, Tom LaBonge, issued a $25,000 reward on Monday, March 4 to any person who comes forth with information. The councilman’s Communication’s Director, Scott Levin, states that LaBonge is dedicated to addressing any "violent crime in his district” and affirms that "there are suspects" that officials are currently investigating.

Witnesses were present at the time of the incident and Levin insists that the reward is a "good tool that is effective in closing cases," and officials are hoping to identify and arrest the suspect. The suspect is said to be a dark haired man in his twenties to early thirties. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the California Highway Patrol at 323-259-2010.
