MALIBU—Two stranded hikers were rescued at the Malibu State Creek Park near Century Lake on Sunday, January 27.

After a 911 call was made around 9:30 p.m., Malibu’s Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team responded and rescued a 29-year-old male and 31-year-old female who were stranded. It required assistance from the Los Angeles County Fire Department as the walls down to the hikers was too saturated from the rain to climb. The hikers were successfully brought to safety at around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.

This is the second rescue this week at the 25-mile long state park, located 4 miles south of Highway 101 on Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon Road. Sunday night four hikers called the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station, as the weather was getting cold and they were running out of supplies. The hikers were located at the Strawberry Peak Trail at the Angeles National Forest. The four were rescued at around 10:30 p.m.
