Community Shred Day In Malibu
Posted by Carmen Herrera on Apr 11, 2013 - 2:22:58 AM

MALIBU—Keeping with the celebration of Earth Month, Saturday, April 20 will be Malibu’s Community Shred Day, a recycling extravaganza for the entire community.

The city has released various community events that would help protect the environment and keep the area clean with “green” all through the month for April’s recognition of Earth Day on the 22nd.

Open to the public, the event encourages everyone attending to bring old documents, paper, CDs and even tapes to recycle. Waste such as motor oil, batteries and light bulbs can also be collected and recycled as part of another simultaneous event known as the Electronic Waste Collection. The limit amount of supplies will be 25 standard boxes for each person.

Earth Month events take place at City Hall.

Celebration for Earth Month began last month as a way for the city to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of Earth Day. Taking place the same times will also be the Paint Roundup, Smart Gardening workshop and the Waste to Waves Collection. All events, including the Community Shred Day will all take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Malibu City Hall will host the event and is located at 23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu. All the events are free and open to the public. For more information about Malibu’s Earth Month events, visit http://www.malibucity.org or call the Environmental Programs Office at 310-456-2489.
