MALIBU—With April just around the corner, the city of Malibu is gearing up for the greenest day of them all: Earth Day.
To celebrate the 43rd annual Earth Day, the city began its celebration early on March 23 and will continue into April 22. The month-long celebration is being deemed as “Earth Month” in Malibu, and the city has lined up a list of activities for the purpose of conserving energy and preserving the earth’s environment.
"Everyday is Earth Day in Malibu," said Mayor Lou La Monte on the city’s website. "Our advocacy for environmental protection reflects the values that make us the City we are today. Malibu leads by example in promoting ecological awareness and respect not only through our implementation of innovative environmental projects, but also through providing educational opportunities that empower our residents and visitors to be environmental stewards."

The city will be engaging in workshops such as: gardening, recycling and waste collections for residents to become both aware and participate in protecting the Earth. The city has listed suggestions and tips to help the environment and has listed events free of charge for the month of April leading up to Earth Day.
The weekends of April 13-20 contains workshops such as document shredding, electronic waste collections and oil and paint roundups. The events are open to the public and will all take place at the Malibu City Hall.
