Arce, 48, finished the race in three hours and 46 minutes on Monday, April 15. It was four hours and nine minutes into the race that the bombs went off near the finish line.
According to Jen Briggs, co-owner of 9026-Eyes, Arce called after the explosions to let her know he was okay. Two other Malibu residents, Christopher Eldridge, 24, and Tyson B. Park Sr., 71, were registered to run in the race.
Reports indicate that Eldridge crossed the finish line at three hours and eight minutes, and Park was still racing when the bombs detonated. Park was most likely one of the runners given a detour away from the blast site.
