Malibu Shooting Leads To Arrest

MALIBU—A 27-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, January 9 for allegedly shooting a man in the chest in Malibu.

The shooting was reported at 9:30 a.m. at 27861 West Winding Way where deputies found a 49-year-old man sitting on the floor with a chest wound after reportedly being in a dispute with a neighbor.

The bullet went through the victim's chest and out of his shoulder. He was taken to the UCLA Medical Center in serious but stable condition and is believed to be suffering from non-life threatening wounds.

A man driving a black SUV was seen leaving the scene of the crime. Deputies would later find the SUV near Kanan and Cornell roads in Agoura Hills. The suspect, Patrick Leach, was pulled over and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken into custody with a bail set at $500,000.
