MALIBU — Singer Justin Bieber could face criminal charges for vandalism, as announced by the Los Angeles County Sheriff on February 6.
Bieber in Miami on January 23.
The Malibu/Lost Hills Station put out a news release announcing that their investigators had turned over their findings to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for consideration of criminal charges from an alleged egging incident in Calabasas that took place on January 9. The homeowner whose home was egged reported that the damages inflicted cost around $20,000 to repair.
This is the latest in a string of encounters with law enforcement in the past few months for the pop star. A report from NBC News said that the FAA was looking into allegations that the singer and his father, Jeremy Bieber, was abusive to staff during a January 31 flight from
New Jersey. The female flight attendant on-board had been forced to stay close to the cabin to avoid further harassment from Bieber and his father. In addition, the report obtained by NBC said that the pilot and co-pilot had resorted to wearing oxygen masks due to the amount of marijuana smoke filling the cabin, which could affect their employment during drug screenings.
The FAA noted on their website that unruly passengers could face up to a $20,000 fine for each violation found. They could also face a maximum of 20 years in prison if they are found to violate Title 49 of the U.S. Code, Section 46504.
Bieber pleaded not guilty on January 29 to three misdemeanor charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license from an incident on January 23 in
Miami, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He is expected in court on March 3. Bieber also faces a March 10 court date in
Toronto for allegedly striking a limousine driver in the back of the head several times during a December 30 incident.
