MALIBU—On Sunday, September 15, a 56 year-old State Parks employee was killed in a motorcycle collision on the Pacific Coast Highway. Canyon News spoke with the California Highway Patrol who confirmed the accident occurred west of Malibu near the Sycamore Canyon camping grounds at around 6:20 a.m.

The cause of the fatal accident seems to be an attempt at passing another vehicle on the highway. The State Parks maintenance employee was traveling eastbound west of the Sycamore Canyon and he had allegedly attempted to pass a 2001 Nissan Maxima, who was making a left turn into a campground parking lot. The victim was fatally thrown off his bike following the collision.

The driver of the car was a 20 year-old female. She did not suffer any injuries. Paramedics pronounced the unidentified man dead at the scene.

The accident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
