Suspect To Go On Trial For Kidnapping
Posted by Luis Cuevas on Mar 19, 2013 - 11:39:58 AM

MALIBU—On Monday, March 18, a man accused of kidnapping a 17-year-old girl is scheduled to go to trial on April 10. The suspect, 28-year-old Alexis Fantauzzi, has been charged with felony kidnapping to commit another crime, kidnapping while carjacking, vandalism, molesting a child and attempting to escape from arrest.

Fantauzzi is being held on bail for $2 million dollars at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Downtown Los Angeles. His trial is set to take place in the LAX Courthouse.

Fantauzzi forced his way into the victim’s car as she waited at a stoplight between Pacific Coast Highway and Webb way during the early hours of June 12 of last year. The suspect later forced his way into the driver's seat and drove around for hours before stopping to get gas.

Two bystanders were accredited with helping save the girl, Michael Miller and Jordan Evans. Miller confronted Fantauzzi after seeing the girl was visibly upset telling him to let her go. Fantauzzi failed to comply and left with the girl causing Miller to call the police.

Evans was at the gas station during the confrontation, but felt it would be resolved with the 911 calls. Later on his way to work, he saw the car with Fantauzzi and the girl in the car and waited until police arrived to make sure the girl was safe.
