MALIBU—A white GM pick-up truck struck and killed a cyclist in her 30’s late Tuesday, July 10, in a hit and run on the Pacific Coast Highway. PCH was closed for several hours after the incident but has since reopened.
The woman, who has not been identified, was riding near Entrada Drive in Santa Monica around 11:30 p.m. when she was hit by the vehicle. First responders were unable to revive the woman and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to reports, multiple witnesses saw the woman veer into the lane just before the truck was about to pass her. The truck hit her and continued to drive onto the 10 Freeway, making no attempt to stop.
The truck carried the woman’s bike for about half a mile. The bike was later found on the 700 block of Pacific Coast highway.
Police are continuing the search for the driver of the white GM full-sized pickup truck. Police say there is likely damage on the front of the vehicle from the collision.
