MALIBU—Forget all the earthquakes and heat waves. The Southern California lifestyle is best enjoyed with some wine and an ocean breeze. Both were on hand at the 9th Annual Taste of Malibu on Thursday, August 16.

The annual event features local restaurant and winemaker fare. It was scheduled to take place at Malibu and Vine Bar & Grille at the Malibu Golf Club from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. In addition to wine and cuisine, last year’s Taste of Malibu included a silent auction. No word yet on whether or not the auction will make a second appearance.

According to the event web page, this year’s participating restaurants included Savory, Malibu and Vine, Lobo Castle, Hoyt Family Wines, Solstice Wines, Sage Hill Wines, and more. VIP guests enjoyed a technique presentation and cooking by Chef Matthew Zubrod of Malibu and Vine and another unnamed chef. Zubrod has been a chef for over two decades, including 12 years at the Ritz Carlton where he was named as one of America’s Best Hotel Chefs by the James Beard Foundation.
