Woman Crashes Audi In PCH After Chase
Posted by Daniel Antolin on Nov 23, 2011 - 4:19:31 PM

MALIBU—During the afternoon of Wednesday, November 23, a 28-year-old woman was booked for a felony charge at a Lynwood, Calif. women's jail after crashing an Audi into a Pacific Coast Highway wall during a high-speed chase that ended in Malibu the night before.

Katherine Berlyn, a Malibu real estate agent, tweeted that Jill Rosen's crash on November 22 at 7:57 p.m. occurred across from Geoffrey's Malibu restaurant, which is located at 27400 Pacific Coast Highway. She was earlier driving at high speeds on the I-10 Santa Monica Freeway until hitting a wall near West Escondido Drive. As a result, a PCH westbound lane had to be closed, online real-time traffic data showed at the time.

After crashing, Rosen bailed from the Audi but was tackled to the ground by a highway patrol officer, as a Metro Los Angeles bus was approaching her. Rosen had sped away from the officer, who attempted to pull her over on a Century City street at West Olympic and South Beverly Glen boulevards, CHP Southern Division spokesperson Saul Gomez told Canyon News. Neither was hurt during the chase.

The CHP officer was trying to pull Rosen over because her vehicle's registration was expired. Gomez said she may have fled because she had three unrelated warrants out for her arrest for driving without a license.

Gomez said Rosen was driving "way too fast," traversing several red lights in several cities. During the chase, the Audi traveled at speeds between 80 and 100 miles per hours. She was driving at 86 mph on South Bundy Drive in West Los Angeles, accelerating to about 100 mph at PCH's Temescal Canyon Road. Google Maps indicates that her 24-mile ride would have taken 34 minutes during normal traffic conditions. The chase lasted 25 minutes.

According to booking data, she was arrested at 8:22 p.m. Rosen, who was reportedly combative during her arrest, was assigned a cell at the Los Angeles County Century Sheriff's Station on November 23 at 2:59 p.m. She is being held on $75,000 bail.
