MALIBU—So you have registered to participate in the Malibu International Marathon or Half Marathon on November 15. You are now doing the final preparations!
MALIBU—Today’s article isn’t about food, though you’re welcome to draw parallels, it’s about running and training and the things we can do to spice it up.
MALIBU—Runners are known to be passionate, down-to-earth and driven. Thousands of these athletes are using their passion to raise awareness and funds for non-profits.
MALIBU—I am happy to be reporting that I just ran the course that will be run by the participants of the Malibu International Marathon on Sunday morning, November 15.
MALIBU—I knew that eating a
pound of cheese before going on a run was probably not a smart idea, but it was
brie and brie is my favorite. About 10 minutes into my run, my stomach felt
queasy.
MALIBU—I am counting down the days until I step up to the start line of another 78.6 mile race around Lake Tahoe. The Tahoe Triple is one of the most beautiful locations for a marathon in the country.
MALIBU—Byers, Logistical
Director of the Malibu International Marathon, has run 256 marathons—76 of
those he ran barefoot. Some people call him crazy while others take off
their shoes and follow.
MALIBU—Most athletes have an “off season” where they finally take a break. This
is the time we rest the body, mind and spirit and build our reserves for the
next season of competition and training.
MALIBU—Running is the one time
I am able to shut off my mind and let my body take over. Life suddenly
becomes simple. My body speaks and I listen. “Drink!” it
shouts and I drink. “Eat!” it shouts and I eat.
MALIBU—Every athlete will hit walls in their training, both mental and physical. This is where cross training becomes an integral tool of success. So will tennis make you a better marathoner?
MALIBU—There are millions of excuses to skip your run: you’re too hungry, too full, it’s too windy, too hot, too cold, or your little toe has a paper cut. The list goes on and on. So just lace up!
MALIBU—Welcome to adulthood, children, and isn’t it all you thought it would be!Along with the responsibilities we have, self inflicted or not, comes a whole world of hurt we never knew as children.
MALIBU—Thousands of people run marathons each
year.What is the draw to
this "monotonous, heavy and exhausting" experience? Why would anyone do this to their body?
Are we all masochistic?
LOS ANGELES—Run the first 10 miles with your head, the second 10 with your legs and the last 6.2 with your heart. Completely exhausted you realize you just ran a marathon. Let's see how.
MALIBU—It’s time to celebrate! There is finally a marathon in Malibu! The marathoners will run 26.2 miles finishing at Zuma Beach in Malibu. The Half Marathon is the last half of the marathon course.
