Seven Homes Burglarized In Melrose
Posted by Rosana Clarkson on Dec 9, 2009 - 6:33:18 AM

MELROSE—On December 8, Melrose Action reported that at least seven homes have been burglarized in the Melrose area, the first incident occurring on November 30 and the last incident on December 5.

According to the crime data provided by the Los Angeles Police Department's Wilshire Division, the burglars’ chosen points of entry have varied from a front door to mostly rear doors or windows, according to the Melrose Action Web site.

The first two burglaries occurred on November 30 on the 700 block of North Laurel, and on the 800 block of North Stanley.  The third incident happened on December 1 on the 700 North block of Hayworth.  The next burglary occurred on December 2 on the 800 North block of Laurel, and then two more incidents transpired on December 3 on the 800 block of Formosa Avenue, and on December 5 on the 800 North block of Spaulding.

Police believe that the suspects involved in the first two incidents are black males between 20 to 50 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, and 150 to 220 pounds.  In one of the burglaries, the men were seen driving an older model four-door Toyota.

The LAPD warns that crime increases during the holidays, and that residents are advised to lock all doors and windows and to report all suspicious activity to police.

Anyone who has further information about these crimes, or believes they may have seen anyone matching the descriptions of these suspects, is urged to contact LAPD Wilshire Detectives at 213-922-8206.  Anyone who sees any suspicious people or activities in the area may also contact L.A.P.D. at 1-877-ASK-LAPD.
