Man Arrested After Assaulting Minor

MELROSE—On September 29, police apprehended a man who allegedly assaulted an underage girl near Melrose Avenue and Alta Vista Boulevard.
The incident occurred on September 28, when the victim was reportedly walking in the area at approximately 1 a.m. The suspect allegedly accosted the girl, conversed with her, then grabbed and pulled her into an alley in an attempt to rape her. She fought and cried for help, and responding LAPD officers arrived at the scene in a squad car. Apparently alarmed by the lights and sirens, the suspect fled from the scene.
The girl's attacker, identified as 22-year-old Cristopher Tysean Webb, is a registered sex offender whom police suspect may have been involved in other assaults. Webb was reportedly recognized by his prominent tattoos: the word "Honey" written on his right hand, and the word "Combs" written on his left.
