Proposition D will decrease marijuana stores by 130
MELROSE—The election on Tuesday, May 21 showed that residents want to decrease the number of marijuana stores in the Melrose area. Proposition D was passed, resulting in a future reduction of marijuana stores by 130. Proposition F which would have allowed for an unlimited amount of marijuana stores was voted against by most of the population.

Marijuana stores are now in the process of being shut down on Melrose Avenue between Fairfax Avenue and Highland Avenue. Many residents in the area complain of intoxicated drivers and lack of retailers and customers in the area due to businesses not wanting to be next to a marijuana dispensary.

Most of the marijuana stores were illegal, however, legal loopholes were used for them to remain open. With the passing of Proposition D, the marijuana stores are now in the process of being shut down.
