MELROSE—An
unidentified female was shot and robbed in the Hollywood area on the evening of
Wednesday, January 27.
The
unknown Hispanic woman, who is no older than 25, was walking on the 4800 block
of Melrose Avenue when a male robber approached her from behind and shot her
with a stun gun on the back of her neck. The suspect then pulled the woman to
the ground and attempted to steal her purse.
According
to the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) January 29 press release, a group
of witnesses chased the suspect, who was later identified as 22-year-old David
Victor Thomas, and held him captive until police arrived. The victim
immediately left the scene after the incident.
In
an updated January 30 press release, the victim spoke to police at the LAPD’s
Hollywood station after watching the crime on the news. After realizing that
officials wanted to interview her, she came forward to report the crime.
No
further information regarding the victim’s identity was shared with Canyon
News, but the press release describes the woman as Hispanic with long hair. She
weighs between 130 to 150 pounds, and only speaks Spanish.
