PACIFIC PALISADES—"McKay is receiving harassing emails every day," states Brent Hatch, father of Mckay hatch, the 15-year-old boy who began promoting the 'No Cussing Club' website www.nocussingclub.com, after being disturbed by the constant cursing of his fellow classmates at school. The boy became harassed by vulgar email messages and death threats as a result of his philanthropic cause.
"I am shocked by the obscenities we have received through our emails and mail," Brent says. "We've had electricians and UPS packages anonymously sent to our house."
Sergeant Valencia, of the South Pasadena Police Department, stated in an interview with Canyon News that "no arrests have been made for the online threats made to him [McKay] and his family."
"The detective I have handling the case has been in contact with the F.B.I. to see if they are going to handle it. The detective bureau has not been informed about any bullying or harassment McKay has received at school," he says.
Valencia confirms that the West Covina F.B.I. are diligently investigating the case through extensive computer tracking in order to locate the culprits. "Although McKay is not being bullied at school, he has been inundated with death threats online. There was even an attempt to take down the 'No Cussing Club' website.”
"His parents are very upset," he continued, "and are very desirous of prosecuting whoever is doing this if they find out who it is. They are very concerned for McKay's safety. It's not like McKay is going door-to-door and forcing his message on others. If they don't want to hear about it they simply don't need to respond to it."
Brent Hatch says that McKay is doing well and is trying to remain as positive as possible through this difficult time. "I'm the one who reads the emails," he says. "McKay doesn't know about them, and doesn't have to know about them."
Hatch says that McKay is very famous now. "He will appear tonight [Wednesday, January 21] as a guest speaker on a television program on NBC Channel 4," he says. McKay also wanted to make an appearance at Pacific Palisades Elementary School but because of unconfirmed issues decided it was best to cancel.
