Missing Hiker Found Dead

PACIFIC PALISADES—A missing hiker was found dead Thursday night in the Pacific Palisades area from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Hiker was found dead on a trail near Sunset Blvd and Mandeville Canyon.

Family of the deceased reported the man missing on Thursday, January 3 at 5:30 p.m. after not returning from a hiking trip. A helicopter was used in search of the 44-year-old missing man from Santa Monica.

At around 10:20 p.m., he was found dead by the LAPD from what appears to be a suicidal gunshot wound. The body was found on a trail near Mandeville Canyon and Sunset Boulevard. The man’s identity has yet to be released to the public.
