PCH Crash, Car Overloaded

PACIFIC PALISADES—On the morning of Wednesday, August 3, it was reported by NBC that a one-car crash took place at 12:06 a.m. According to Los Angeles City Fire Department Spokesman, Cecil Manresa the accident occurred within the 16300 block of West Pacific Coast Highway. What sounded like an explosion to one resident awoke and alarmed all neighboring locals. Fortunately, nearby fire officials were in pursuit and able to assist passengers in exiting the flaming automobile.
According to an update provided by the LAPD traffic detectives, the vehicle collided with a streetlight within the Temescal Canyon Road and Sunset Boulevard area. Temescal Canyon. It was determined that while six passengers were injured, one man, 35 years old, died at the scene. Among the survivors are a 1-year-old boy, an 18 year old girl; a 27-year-old woman and 15-year-old were airlifted to a nearby hospital. According to fire officials, two six-year-old girls and a 17-year-old girl suffered from minor injuries.
The engulfed vehicle was a 2002 Ford Focus, which according to investigators is only to carry a maximum of five people. Authorities say that the car was apparently overloaded and that the driver had been speeding which was identified as the primary cause of the accident. The involvement of other vehicles as well as the cause of the collision are still being investigated.
