Pacific Palisades Schools Show Improvements
Posted by Kelly Zhou on Sep 17, 2011 - 9:02:18 PM

PACIFIC PALISADES—Four of the five public schools in Pacific Palisades improved their Academic Performance Index (API) scores, including a 23-point jump at one school.

API scores, which range from 200 to 1000, measure academic performance and progress at public schools in California. The numbers are based on results from the Standardized Testing and Reporting program (STAR) and the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).

Paul Revere Middle School jumped from 852 to 875, marking a notable 23-point improvement. Marquez Elementary School also advanced in its scores, adding 16 points to reach 935.

Administrators at these schools attributed the changes to a number of factors, including specific teaching methods and an emphasis on technology.

Palisades Charter High School beat some nearby high schools with a score of 828, a 10-point increase from the year before. Palisades Charter Elementary also improved by seven points, reaching a score of 937. The statewide target for all schools is 800.
